Sudbury makes move to online booking

Good news travels fast! The innovative projects undertaken by Savience across the region since the start of the COVID pandemic have struck a chord. Ontario-based Health Sciences North (HSN) is the latest organisation to reach out to join the growing number of satisfied Savience clients.

The challenge

  • HSN needed an online booking solution for their patients to be able to book COVID swab tests
  • Understandably, there was significant pressure for a rapid deployment of the solution
  • Hospital staff though, had limited resources and availability
  • Scarce resources meant that training requirements on the solution had to be minimal
  • As the government’s position on swab eligibility would be regularly shifting, the solution had to be capable of supporting very swift turnarounds in terms of updates and amendments
  • From a patient’s perspective, the booking platform had to be extremely intuitive and simple to use

The response

  • From HSN’s servers being made available to Savience, the test solution was built, and the initial configuration delivered to HSN within 3 days
  • The test system was used to provide the administration training. Further configuration enhancements were identified and delivered as Savience and the HSN team became more familiar with the breadth and scope of the Booking module and how it met the local requirements
  • The solution’s flexible and easy to use configuration options meant that the solution was ready for deployment ahead of time and with minimal input from hospital personnel
  • Over the next few weeks, if the local system admin couldn’t update the system to meet a new requirement, Savience was on hand to provide new features and functionality very quickly
  • Feedback from patients was overwhelmingly positive. Being able to book for family members, together with the mobile-friendly responsive design, proved very popular
